1. One award per year will be given.
The award will consist of a plaque/certificate and a complimentary dinner ticket to the recognition award presentations at
the banquet dinner, which is the highlight of the annual convention.
2. The award will be called Dr. Zakir Husain Award, honoring the former President of the Republic of India, and an alumnus and a former Vice
Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University.
3. Individuals and organizations who have made a significant
contribution towards the upliftment of the poor and the oppressed/underprivileged members of the society in India are eligible
for this award.
4. Member associations, members of the council, members
of the Board of Directors or the Board of Trustees may submit nominations on the prescribed form.
The nominees will be evaluated
against the following selection criteria.
- Demonstrated
contributions in one or more of the following areas for a minimum of 5 years – education, job training, job creation,
medical treatment, housing, disaster relief;
- Breadth
of impact of activity;
- Establishment
of metrics/milestones for measurement of success, and an assessment in meeting those metrics/milestones
5. The Awards Committee will evaluate all applications
and make a selection recommendation to the Board of Directors, who will select the awardee.
6. Awards may not be given if the Awards Committee does
not identify a satisfactory recipient.
